When asked why I chose Guyana for my vacation I replied it is the poorest country I could find which spoke English. A friend researched it and told me there was nothing there. I replied “ exactly” , Meaning my agenda is not so visible. What is my agenda? It is to experience life at a level I can get more clarity on my own life. I could do it in the states but have a gut feeling even the most basic human in the states are still caught up in the neurotic flow of our country . I feel very few people take much time to reflect why they are alive. Even less try to sort the values of life other than comforts , microwaves and color tv’s.
Has anyone thought about or practiced what they are going to say to make their case on judgment day ? Are you going to dress in a suit for the occasion ? Ever thought about how you will get the suit there and if so you might as well bring your car.. Hmmm , might be a good chance you are naked at this most important event of your life. How many of you are totally comfortable naked outside you little pink house? Now picture yourself a little bit bashful and a whole lot naked stating your case for eternal life with the big boss . The only thing that makes this more difficult is it is a whole lot more than preaching to the choir. I still greatly imagine vast efforts to bull shit the man .
My initial thought was put an usa flag on my hat and go south till someone ask me what it was. That journey is down the road. For now I am just going to get my feet a little wet.
How am I going to do this? Mostly by simple acts of kindness. I have my laptop, camera and printer and will photograph people and give them photos. I am thinking about taking my mother peep and a big box of marshmallow peeps and do a series with them. They are a lot like walking a cute puppy . They bring out a simplicity in people. My main agenda is just to do simple acts of kindness to anyone I feel will respect it at all and some who do not and absorb the reaction .
Those who know me have no doubt that even though I do not have much of a plan this is not going to be a lame adventure. Stay tuned! I will try to post stories and photos as it happens .
